The Road II SV is a modular helmet from Pilot with an internal sun visor, made for touring and commuting.<\/p>\n
A modular (flip-up) helmet has a front section that lifts with one button, so you can talk, drink or pay at tolls without removing the helmet, and it is easier to put on with glasses. It is popular with touring riders and with anyone who stops often. Check whether the helmet is P\/J approved, which means it may be ridden both closed and open.<\/p>\n
ECE 22.06 is the current European approval standard for motorcycle helmets and replaced the older 22.05. Its tests are considerably stricter: the shell is impacted at more points and at different speeds, rotational effects in oblique impacts are assessed, the visor is impact-tested and accessories approved by the manufacturer are also checked. On the approval label, P means the chin bar is protective, J indicates an open-face helmet and P\/J a modular helmet that may be ridden open or closed.<\/p>\n
Measure the circumference of your head about two fingers above the eyebrows and around the widest point at the back, then compare with the brand’s size chart. A new helmet should fit snugly and evenly, press lightly on the cheeks and not rotate when you shake your head, without painful pressure points after ten minutes. Liners bed in with use, so a helmet that feels loose in the shop will feel looser later. If you are between two sizes, ask us to compare the shell sizes.<\/p>\n
Clean the shell and visor with lukewarm water and a soft cloth, without solvents. Remove and wash the liner regularly and let the helmet dry in the shade. A helmet that has taken a significant impact should be replaced, even if no damage is visible, because the protective liner is compressed permanently.<\/p>\n
Helmets with SV in their name have an internal sun visor that drops down with a slider, so you can ride into low sun without changing the main visor and lift it again in tunnels or at dusk.<\/p>\n
The visor is the first part of a helmet to wear: scratches, fogging and tired mechanisms directly affect visibility. A Pinlock insert is a second inner lens that clips between two pins on the visor and creates an air gap that prevents fogging; the visor must be Pinlock-ready and the insert the correct size for the helmet model. Clean visors with lukewarm water and a soft cloth, without solvents.<\/p>\n
A Bluetooth intercom connects the rider to the phone for navigation, calls and music, and to a passenger or other riders. Units clip or stick to the helmet shell, with speakers placed in the ear pockets under the liner. Position the speakers exactly at ear level for clear sound at low volume, and keep the volume moderate so you can still hear the traffic. Make adjustments before riding or with voice commands.<\/p>\n
