Noco Boost GB20 Sport UltraSafe 500A Lithium Jump Starter
The Noco Boost GB20 Sport is a 500A portable lithium jump starter, compact enough for a motorcycle.
Lithium batteries and jump starters
Lithium powersports batteries are much lighter than lead-acid batteries and hold their charge well during storage, but they need a charger suitable for lithium. Choose a battery whose dimensions, terminal layout and cold cranking amps match the requirements of your motorcycle. A portable lithium jump starter lets you start a vehicle with a flat battery without another vehicle, and many models also charge phones via USB.
Ignition and starting
Reliable starting depends on the battery, the starter, the ignition system and the spark plug. Check the spark plug gap and condition regularly and replace it if the electrode is worn or fouled. Keep battery terminals clean and tight and charge the batteries correctly. Starter gears and hooks wear with use and should be replaced before they slip.
Choosing the right battery
Check the battery that is currently fitted or the owner’s manual of your motorcycle for the required voltage, capacity, cold cranking amps, dimensions and terminal position. A lithium battery with equal or higher cranking amps can replace a lead-acid battery in many applications, but the charging system of the motorcycle and the charger must be compatible. If you are unsure, send us the model of your motorcycle and the code of your current battery.
Charging and storage
Charge lithium batteries and jump starters with a compatible charger and avoid leaving them fully discharged for long periods. Store them in a cool, dry place and check the charge level every few months. If the motorcycle is not used for weeks, a maintenance charger designed for lithium batteries keeps the battery in good condition.
Using a jump starter safely
Connect the clamps to the correct terminals, positive first, start the engine and disconnect immediately after. Models with protection against reverse polarity and sparks make the process safer. Read the instructions of the device and of your vehicle before use, and never jump start a battery that is damaged or leaking.
Engine maintenance
Regular maintenance keeps a rental engine reliable for many hours. Change the oil according to the hours of use, clean or replace the air filter often, especially on dusty tracks, and check the spark plug, the carburettor settings and the clutch. Gaskets and seals should be replaced whenever the engine is opened. Keeping a maintenance log for every kart helps you plan parts and spot problems early.
Phone mounts and vibration
Apple has advised that exposure to high-amplitude vibrations in certain frequency ranges, such as those generated by high-power motorcycle engines, may affect the optical image stabilisation and autofocus of iPhone cameras, and recommends a vibration-dampening mount. Mounts with a vibration dampener absorb much of this vibration before it reaches the phone. Mount the phone where you can see it at a glance without hiding the instruments, and make sure it is held firmly.
