Straight Steering Wheel Mount LR5
A straight steering wheel mount for the SODI LR5.
Steering precision and safety
The steering system transfers every input from the driver to the front wheels, so any play or damage is felt immediately and affects safety. Tie rods, ball joints, spindles, the steering column and its supports must be straight and free of play. After a front impact, check the tie rods and spindles for bending and the steering wheel for cracks. Correct toe settings keep the kart stable and reduce tyre wear.
Compatibility with your kart
Most chassis parts are designed for specific models. SODI rental chassis such as the RT8, RX8, RT10, SR5 and LR5 share many components, but dimensions, threads and mounting points can differ between versions. Check the model and the version of your kart, compare the dimensions in the product title with the part you are replacing, and if in doubt send us a photo or the part code. We work with SODI rental karts every day and can confirm fitment before you order.
Inspection and maintenance
Rental karts take impacts from barriers, kerbs and other karts every day. A regular inspection routine catches problems before they become dangerous: look for bent components, cracks around welds, worn bushes and loose fasteners. Replace damaged parts rather than straightening them, because bent steel loses strength. After any repair, check the alignment and make sure all fasteners are tightened to the correct torque and secured with lock nuts or thread locker where required.
Correct installation
Install chassis parts with the correct tools and tighten bolts gradually and evenly. Use new self-locking nuts where the originals were self-locking, since the nylon insert loses its grip after repeated use. Check that moving parts such as steering components and axles turn freely without play after installation. Keep a stock of the most common wear parts so that a kart can return to the track quickly after a minor incident.
Engine maintenance
Regular maintenance keeps a rental engine reliable for many hours. Change the oil according to the hours of use, clean or replace the air filter often, especially on dusty tracks, and check the spark plug, the carburettor settings and the clutch. Gaskets and seals should be replaced whenever the engine is opened. Keeping a maintenance log for every kart helps you plan parts and spot problems early.
Fittings and hoses
Small fittings such as T-pieces, Y-pieces, tank fittings and stoppers are inexpensive but essential for a reliable fuel supply. Check the diameter of your hoses and fittings before ordering, and replace O-rings and seals whenever you open a connection. Keep a few spare fittings and some fuel hose in the workshop so that a leak can be fixed quickly.
Chain care
Keep the chain clean and lubricated with a lubricant suitable for kart chains, and adjust the tension so that there is a little play in the middle of the run. A chain that is too tight loads the bearings and wastes power, one that is too loose can jump off the sprocket. The rear sprocket and the engine sprocket must be aligned, otherwise the chain and sprockets wear on one side.
