Chain Roller with Bearing for SODI RT8 (Honda 390)
A chain roller with bearing for the SODI RT8 with Honda 390 engine. It guides the chain and keeps it from jumping off the sprocket. A worn roller lets the chain flap and wear quickly.
Chain, sprocket and gearing
The chain and sprockets transfer the power of the engine to the rear axle. The pitch must match: 219 chains are used on most racing karts and 428 chains on many rental karts with four-stroke engines. The number of teeth on the sprockets defines the gear ratio: more teeth on the rear sprocket give stronger acceleration, fewer give higher top speed. Replace chain and sprockets together when they are worn, since a new chain on a worn sprocket wears out quickly.
Chain care
Keep the chain clean and lubricated with a lubricant suitable for kart chains, and adjust the tension so that there is a little play in the middle of the run. A chain that is too tight loads the bearings and wastes power, one that is too loose can jump off the sprocket. The rear sprocket and the engine sprocket must be aligned, otherwise the chain and sprockets wear on one side.
Axles and bearings
The rear axle carries the drive sprocket, the brake disc and the rear wheels, so it must be straight and run smoothly in its bearings. Worn bearings create play and vibration, increase rolling resistance and can damage the axle seat. Keys and keyways must fit tightly, otherwise hubs and sprockets can slip. Check the axle for straightness after impacts and replace bearings at the first sign of roughness or noise.
Compatibility with your kart
Most chassis parts are designed for specific models. SODI rental chassis such as the RT8, RX8, RT10, SR5 and LR5 share many components, but dimensions, threads and mounting points can differ between versions. Check the model and the version of your kart, compare the dimensions in the product title with the part you are replacing, and if in doubt send us a photo or the part code. We work with SODI rental karts every day and can confirm fitment before you order.
Inspection and maintenance
Rental karts take impacts from barriers, kerbs and other karts every day. A regular inspection routine catches problems before they become dangerous: look for bent components, cracks around welds, worn bushes and loose fasteners. Replace damaged parts rather than straightening them, because bent steel loses strength. After any repair, check the alignment and make sure all fasteners are tightened to the correct torque and secured with lock nuts or thread locker where required.
Engine maintenance
Regular maintenance keeps a rental engine reliable for many hours. Change the oil according to the hours of use, clean or replace the air filter often, especially on dusty tracks, and check the spark plug, the carburettor settings and the clutch. Gaskets and seals should be replaced whenever the engine is opened. Keeping a maintenance log for every kart helps you plan parts and spot problems early.
Frequently asked questions
How many links do I need?
It depends on the sprocket sizes and the position of the engine. Count the links on your current chain or measure with the new sprockets in place.
Should I change chain and sprockets together?
Yes, a worn sprocket wears out a new chain quickly and vice versa.
