Speed Duesseldorf HBS-1 Backpack with Helmet Holder
The Speed Duesseldorf HBS-1 backpack has a dedicated helmet holder, so you can carry your helmet and gear together to the track.
Bags
A good bag keeps helmet, suit, gloves and shoes together and protected between sessions and on the way to the track.
Helmet care
Clean the shell and visor with lukewarm water and a soft cloth, without solvents. Remove and wash the liner regularly and let the helmet dry in the shade. A helmet that has taken a significant impact should be replaced, even if no damage is visible, because the protective liner is compressed permanently.
Driver suits
A kart suit protects the driver from abrasion in a spin or a contact and keeps everyday clothes clean. Hobby and rental suits are made from durable, washable fabrics and are ideal for tracks, schools and leisure driving. Homologated suits carry CIK-FIA approval and are required in official competitions. Choose a size that allows free movement in the seat, especially at the shoulders and knees.
Driver gloves
Kart gloves give grip on the steering wheel, protect the hands from blisters and vibration and keep them protected in a contact. A good glove is snug without restricting finger movement, with a grippy palm and a secure closure at the wrist. Measure the circumference of the palm and compare it with the size chart.
Driver shoes
Kart shoes have a thin, flexible sole for precise pedal feel and protect the ankle from contact with the chassis. They are lighter and narrower than everyday shoes, so the foot does not catch on the pedals. Choose a snug fit with room to move the toes, and keep them for driving only so the sole stays clean and grippy.
Neck and rib protection
Neck collars support the neck and reduce fatigue from the lateral forces in corners, especially for younger drivers. Rib protectors protect the rib cage from contact with the seat and from impacts, which is important for drivers who spend a lot of time on track. Both should fit closely without restricting breathing or movement.
Helmets and certification
A helmet must fit snugly, without pressure points, and must not move when you shake your head. For karting, helmets with Snell or FIA approval are required in competitions, while rental tracks usually provide helmets or require road-approved helmets according to their rules. Motorcycle helmets carry ECE 22.06 approval. Measure the circumference of your head just above the eyebrows and compare it with the size chart of each brand.
Balaclavas
A balaclava keeps the helmet liner clean, absorbs sweat and makes shared rental helmets more hygienic. Thin, breathable fabrics are comfortable in summer, while warmer fabrics help in winter. It should be thin enough not to affect the fit of the helmet.
